About Me

My name is Dianne Lambert, and I have been a Canadian Kennel Club Premier Member in good standing for over past 30 years.

My passion is the Shih Tzu breed.  I do show my dogs full-time in shows locally.  My puppies are sold on a spay/neuter agreement as I do not sell breeding dogs.  My puppies are bred for health and temperament and we quite often have a waitlist - good things take time!  We use Embark to test for any potential health issues by DNA and then we also test for OFA (indication of eye issues), and a separate test for joints.  To better the breed, we utilize Pedigree records to predict temperament and value.

At Westside Pet Palace we have been breeding quality, happy, healthy, Shih Tzu puppies for over 25 years.  Our pups and adults excel as pampered pets and as stars in the show ring.  Registered under the Sculpture Kennel name, you are able to see our beautiful dogs at shows throughout the Okanagan and Lower Mainland in British Columbia.

I am extremely committed to the health and well-being of every puppy I breed, they are born and raised in my home in order to receive the best care and socialization possible.  When a puppy leaves my home, at no less than 9 weeks old, they have been vet-checked, micro-chipped, dewormed and have received any vaccinations required for their age.

If you would like to be on a waitlist for a one of our Shih Ttzu puppies - please tell us a little about yourself pertaining to work/living /family situation (as much as you are comfortable with) and also your location.

Please keep in mind that I do not ship my puppies and pick-up would be arranged from my home, just outside of Vernon, British Columbia.

Shih Tzu Breed

Origin and Purpose:

As a companion dog, they are sturdy and hardy, well-suited to living in the city and in the country both. They were originally bred in the palaces of China, crossed with Tibetan temple dogs and other Chinese breeds.

General Appearance:

The Shih Tzu's thick coat and Oriental appearance make it a solid, sound little dog that is rather large and heavy for its size.

Temperament:

Shih Tzu are exceptionally good-natured, affectionate, intelligent, and possess a certain air of arrogance. They are full of life and have a very distinct presence in the room.

Size:
The Shih Tzu is not a Toy dog. Height at withers approximately 9 to 10 ½ inches (23-27 cm).

Coat and Color:
A luxurious long, flowing coat with an undercoat. May be slightly wavy but never curly. The coat may be parted from the root of the tail to the back of the skull. The hair on the head may be tied up to form a topknot. A bow or ribbon to be optional. Coat may be trimmed so as not to interfere with the movement of the dog. All colors are acceptable providing they have black noses, lips and eye rims. The exceptions are the livers and blues, which have pigmentation that compliments that particular color.

For more information please refer to the Canadian Shih Tzu Club's Breed Standard.
